Team Realignment

Dear Pittbull Parents,

On April 7th 2010 the Greenwood Little League Football (GLLF) Board of Directors held a meeting to discuss the future of our program. The result of that meeting has been discussed in and around coffee shops, water coolers, barber shops and everywhere else you can think of. We are very proud of the program and all the ‘buzz’ that has been generated, however, we feel the need to set a few things straight and inform everyone of the changes that are about to take place and why.

First and foremost change is necessary in any growing organization. We at GLLF have felt for 3-4 years that adding a third team was necessary to allow for maximum player development. Limited numbers in one group or another made it impossible before now. Player development is our primary mission. Winning championships is great and we will continue our legacy as a competitive and winning program, however, we also must balance that with growing numbers and a sense of fair play.

As our program has grown we have not kept pace as an organization with our structure to maximize our coaches and players efforts. That’s why we have proposed a complete structure change. Starting this year we will no longer have Greenwood teams play one another unless it is a scrimmage situation or league mandated. While we have seperate team coaches on gameday, but during the week all grades, regardless of team, will practice together. This will allow for more team unity and allow for better utilization of our coaches.

We are leading the effort to expand our conference with other quality programs. More quality practice time + more quality opponents = A BETTER QUALITY PROGRAM. We are very excited about these changes. We also understand the disappointment of some with children moving into upper grades. After much discussion the decision was made to implement all changes at once so as to not prolong difficult logistical challenges.

There isn’t enough room on this page to fully describe all changes, if you would like further explanation please feel free to call one of the board members or a current coach.
